Charity
I was honoured to be asked to MC the annual Rape Crisis Centre lunch again this year, at The Westbury Hotel – not that I managed to get much of a word in with the gobby blonde beside me!
Miss Candy (aka Joe Supple) has been the mastermind of this lunch from the start and in the last 16 years it’s managed to raise over E1million for The RCC. Great job Miss Candy as always x

Other charities I am happy to support are Barretstown and Crumlin Children’s Hospital. For Barretstown I got to have my hair
styled by two gorgeous girls, then the event for Crumlin involved getting myself and my kids dressed up as Superheroes – how bad? Sadly one of my heroes ran off that day ( Captain Incredible) and I needed to locate some handsome Gardai to help me find him. THANKFULLY all heroes eventually made a safe return home that day!

2010 saw the second Bring A Book, Buy A Book campaign launch in Hughes & Hughes Book Shop in Stephen’s Green in aid of St. Michael’s House.
It’s been a tough time for Irish fundraisers since the Haiti disaster (not that anyone begrudges Haiti funds, our thoughts, money and prayers are with them now) but it has been an uphill struggle to keep funding coming in.
Sadly, the Hughes & Hughes chain has closed down since our photocall in January, with the loss of many jobs. Thank you to all the staff who looked after my books and displays over the last couple of years, I really appreciated all that you did for me.
As always though I had a great time with the kids from St Michael’s House, and would encourage anyone (in Ireland only) if they have a spare E2 to donate please text SMH to 57502. You money is great needed at this time. For more information on St. Michael’s House please log on to www.smh.ie

I was so delighted to be part of the first annual Persil Fun Mud Run in aid of MS Ireland.
Myself and fellow TV3 totty Sinead Desmond leant our support to the messiest running circuit in Ireland, which saw hundreds of wannabe athletes turn up to Mondello Park and get mucky.
E60,000 was raised on the day.

My Charity!
My chosen charity is St Michael‘s House, which provides services for people
with intellectual disability in Dublin.
My latest work:

Our recent fundraiser at Dalymount Park was a little bit of a washout
this month due to heavy rain, but with the great support of many
friends the Family Fun Day still managed to raise €5,000 towards the
purchase of a new wheelchair-friendly bus.
Though if there are any garages who just so happen to have a
spare one lying about, please get in touch. As there are many patients
young and old who are in desperate need of the transport.
Thank you

I recently launched their St Michael’s House Bring a book
Buy a book campaign which took place from March 4th-11th 2009.
Ryan Tubridy and I launched the event with the children from St Michaels
House in Hughes and Hughes in St.Stephens Green .
I met some of the parents and their children of St Michael‘s House and they
were great fun. In my eyes are children need special love and attention,
little Isaac was no different – though much better behaved than my children ever
are when a camera is pulled out!

I have been informed that the Bring a book , Buy a book campaign was a great success.
The event took place in 117 locations in Dublin. All monies raised went towards
programmes for people with Intellectual disability.
Like all the best concepts, it was clever and simple. Staff in companies were asked
to bring in their second hand books from their homes and buy – donated books
from their colleagues at a cost of €2 per book! Easy !
Though with all good causes, they continuously need the
support and generosity of the public.
My future work:
St Michael‘s House have asked me to be their first ever Patron!
It is an absolute honour! I cannot wait to work with all the St Michael‘s House
team in 2009. I am due to visitthe centres again and meet senior management
to finalise my role.
